Meet our Founder, Yamika Damani - who is a passionate and knowledgeable Pet Food Entrepreneur, Certified Dog Trainer, Certified Pet Nutrition Coach and Pet Care Influencer.
Her passion for pets stemmed from childhood where she grew up with dogs, birds, fish and even turtles. Her father – a nature enthusiast - was instrumental in inspiring her. Fast forward 10 years – A student at the University of Toronto in 2008, Yamika would earn her pocket money by doing what she loved best - dog walking and pet sitting for busy working professionals of downtown Toronto. To say in short, she loved to do what is dearest to her heart – to be around pets.
Upon returning to India, a career as a dog trainer complemented her innate love for animals. Yamika went on to get certified under world renowned British Canine Behaviourist – the late John Rogerson of Northern Centre for Canine Behaviour, UK. Yamika was also mentored by Shirin Merchant, India's top Companion Dog Trainer. Yamika spent 2 years providing one-on-one puppy training services to Bangalore residents including working professionals, business families and expats.
During her time as a dog trainer, Yamika was parent to a rescue dog named Pixie. Pixie suffered from many health issues which Yamika cured and managed through dietary changes. Her research and study of dog nutrition made Yamika realize that pet dogs deserve to eat cleaner and better food. So she stopped feeding store bought packaged dry dog food to Pixie and instead made wholesome fresh home cooked meals and snacks. Soon enough, Yamika found herself packaging and selling these home made products to her friends and family. Inspired by her very intelligent and loving pet dog Pixie, she sold all types of products such as dog biscuits, healthy ice creams for dogs, pet cakes and even freshly cooked daily meals under the brand name “Clever Canine”.
What started out from her household kitchen in 2015, has now grown into a much larger venture with clientele across India and well wishes overseas. The brand currently manufactures it’s products in a commercial unit set up in Indiranagar, Bangalore. All products are conceptualised and developed singlehandedly by Yamika herself, who has a vast knowledge on pet nutrition and flare for product design. Her most popular product innovation till date is the award winning - Lickin’ Licious Frozen Yogurt popsicle for dogs.
Today, Yamika has touched the lives of thousands of pet parents through her educational content on social media that features her 2 adopted Bully's Tiana & Dora. She has also helped numerous pet's through her balanced and nutritious Custom Meal Plan formulations. Yamika is very passionate about animal welfare and aims to spread awareness and encourage people to contribute to welfare causes through her latest initiative CC Compassion Squad.
